Oracle Expands Cloud Services With Acquisition of Textura

Oracle is looking more and more like Salesforce every day. This is a direction the company needs to follow as its hardware sales continue to slip.

Oracle added to its growing cloud services roster April 28 by acquiring publicly traded Textura, a provider of construction contracts and payment management cloud services for about $663 million in cash, net of Textura’s liquid assets.

The purchase price amounted to $26 per share, exactly the price at which the stock closed April 28.

A patent filed in 2014 and published Thursday describes a device that could correct vision without putting contacts in or wearing glasses everyday.

But to insert the device, a person must undergo what sounds like a rather intrusive procedure.

On the earnings call, CEO Tim Cook gave some context for the iPhone sale slump. Ford CEO, Mark Fields, has confirmed the company is readying its response to the Model 3 and Bolt EVs.

Asked on a possible 200-mile (322 km) range battery-electric car, Fields said the Blue Oval wants to be “among the leaders or in a leadership. Clearly, that’s something we’re developing for”, according to an AutomotiveNews report.

Part of Ford’s plan to add 13 hybrid or electric vehicles by the end of the decade, the new EV is believed to be the Model E, after the automaker gained the rights to use the nameplate two years ago after a “dispute” with Tesla Motors….

The German government has agreed to a plug-in vehicle incentive plan that would hand out about $1.4 billion in perks to those who buy electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. ClearTax nabs $1.3M to make filing taxes online in India less stressful

The Indian government has taken several steps to make filing taxes online easier, but the process can still be, well, taxing. ClearTax wants to make it easier. The startup, a Y Combinator alum, just raised angel funding of $1.3 million. Investors include Max Levchin (this is the PayPal co-founder’s first investment in India), Scott Banister, Neeraj Arora, Naval Ravikant, and Ruchi Sanghvi.

Mitsubishi’s been lying about fuel economy ratings since 1991

The mother of all confessions? Mitsubishi has just admitted to improperly testing the fuel consumption of its cars since as far back as 1991.

The malpractices by the Japanese automaker include the falsification of fuel efficiency data, according to a statement made today and reported by Automotive News.

“Customers bought our cars based on incorrect fuel economy data,” Mitsubishi president Tetsuro Aikawa said during a press conference while claiming he was unaware of the improper testing. “I can’t help but apologize.”
